The comparison between startups and corporate organisations has become increasingly relevant. While both claim to offer flexible environments, the actual experience can vary greatly depending on the company culture, leadership style, and operational structure.
Startups
Startups are mostly known for its flexibleness as its basically a small team working in an organization.

Although the employees have the freedom to work in flexible schedules one of the considerable draw back in working in a startup is blur boundaries between personal and professional life. Some times the employees are overloaded with work and the employee may end working flexible by working for long hours, Due to these drawback in work life balance in startups employees will feel pressurized and they tend to burnout .(Kamalnath and Kaul, 2025)

Nowadays large companies like Google , Microsoft and Uniliver have Prioritize work life balance as it is also one of the factor that employees conisder while choosing a career (Hoffman and Cowan, 2008)
Conclusions
A good work-life balance is crucial for employee retention and productivity, whether in a structured corporate environment or a busy startup. Long-term success is achieved by employers who actively listen to their employees and make necessary adjustments.

Work-life balance in Sri Lanka is not a ready made scenario.Work life balance in sri lanks is an emerging factor where as the adapting to it depends on company leadership , industry type and the expectations
